Hey what’s goin’ on!?

Hope you’re making the most of what we have left of winter. We’re hoping to get out spring riding soon-if it ever warms up around here!

In the meantime, I’ve been working inside on the computer and tuning out the fam with these cool new headphones that ifrogz sent us!

The ifrogz company offers the Ear Pollution line of customisable headphones. They have been awesome and offered us a chance to design and order a pair of Nerve Pipes for review!

The process for customising the Nerve Pipes online was very interactive and a lot of fun. There are 6 component pieces to customise with colour and artwork; the headband, sidepieces, hinges, speakers, ear cushions and outer speaker area.

Being a graphic designer, I was very impressed with all the potential colour and texture combinations that are possible. I’m also a terrible decision maker and I spent much time perfecting a headphone design; tweaking, adding, removing-then starting from scratch to get the perfect pair happening!

Once submitting my final order, the Nerve Pipes arrived here very quickly and I was impressed right away. The packaging was nice (and very easy to open!) and my headphones inside matched the high quality image on the website-to a T! They are very stylin’ (as you can see), fold up into a compact size and sound fantastic!

Happy New Year!

We are back to start the new year off with a bang! We have some great plans in the works and are getting set to launch a new community partnership as well as our line of custom Wakeboard FreshFaces! (And adding to our Custom Snowboard and Skateboard designs too!!)

Something that you definitely want to watch out for is our soon to be release public design forum. We’re tweaking that in the next few weeks; you’ll be able to submit custom designs to be showcased and rated in a public format! Start your creative gears and get ready to submit!! We’ll be showing off some really neat decals, skateboard designs, wakeboard designs and of course custom snowboard designs too!

As it is Monday, I’d like to introduce to you our newest member of the FreshPow! Community;

Jessica Miller, Skier - 28, OH/USA

1. What is your summer sport? Rowing
2. Favorite thing to watch on screen (TV or Movie): Psych (tv), Out Cold (movie)
3. 5 songs on your playlist: Don’t Stop Believin’ by Journey; Wasting Time and If I Had Eyes by Jack Johnson, Anytime by Eve 6, Home for a Rest by Great Big Sea
4. When did you start skiing? What inspired you to start? I started skiing in 1995 on a trip with my youth group. My mom went with me (she’s been skiing most of her life) and I went down the hill, hell bent for leather and never looked back. My technique has improved since then, and I now have a healthy sense of fear, but there’s no feeling in the world like making first tracks while the sun is still making it’s way up the mountain.
5. Most frequented riding spot? A group of friends and I try to ski a new location every season, but for local skiing we head up to CaberFae Peaks in Cadillac, Michigan. They throw a monster St. Patty’s Day shindig. And the hill’s not much to sneeze at, but the third floor bar just off the terrain park at Alpine Peaks in Michigan is fun too.
6. Favorite move/trick: Not falling
7. Your skiing style: Not falling
8. What did you have for breakfast? Trip breakfast is usually bacon, eggs and toast.
9. If you could ski or ride anywhere in the world, where would it be? I’d love to go to Chile or Reykjavik.
10. Are you sponsored? Not likely
11. What does your Monday to Friday, 9 - 5 look like? I work in marketing. If it’s a blue bird day, I might be out sick.
12. Describe your ideal day of riding: Hit the hill early before people have had a chance to push all the good stuff to the bottom of the hill, check out all the trails and pick my faves. Catch up with the crew for a warm-up and lunch and back at it until they kick us out. Love night skiing after dinner provided anyone can stay motivated!
13. Do you have a favoured Pro or Amateur? Picabo Street. She’s a tremendous athelete and a great, gracious competitor. And my mom used to call me Picabo when I was younger.
14. What is your all-time favourite dessert? Cheesecake.
15. In your opinion, what is the worst trend/fad for your sport? Skiing with an MP3 player. I love to hear the sound my skiis make as the slide over the snow.
16. How do you prepare for a day of riding? Stretching and a bloody mary.
17. What is your “must-have” for hill-side eats? chili and crackers.
18. What item in your gear bag can you NOT live without? Chapstick
19. What do you do “après-board”? cards and drinks with friends, or a night on the town
20. What was your most embarrassing / memorable moment on the hill? My friend and I we racing down the hill and I was trying to catch up to her. She hit a jump she wasn’t expecting and yardsaled. I hit the jump right on her heels and had to lay horizontal in the air to avoid hitting her when she fell. I landed hard on my hip and limped to the lodge for a time-out.

The snowboard and ski season is just around the corner (yeah!!) and with it comes a whole new set of trends, designs, gadgets and accessories!

With the price of gas and the inevitable increase in lift tix, it’s going to be hard to find the cash to update your equipment right?! Not so!! You have found us (your savior!) and we are here to remedy that “outdated look” you may have.

You need a FreshFace!

Here is a quick way to get your gear into this season (all on your own terms, and affordable to boot!)

1. Grab your gear from last year and take stock of what you have and what you need.

2. Make sure all of it is in rideable condition, nothing is broken, torn, cracked or damaged (we’re not looking at designs or topsheets right now).

3. Grab the latest buyer’s guide and take a look at what the current trends are. What catches your eye? What colors are grabbing you and saying “GET OUT THERE!”? Make note of those colors, shapes, patterns, etc.

4. Go to our “snow” or “land” section and check out our current designs for topsheets (a.k.a FreshFaces!) Choose the one you like and give us a call. If you don’t see one that you like, call us anyway and we’ll design one to your specs!

5. Receive your FreshFace in the mail and follow the directions on how to install it.

6. Pack up all of your gear (lookin’ good and ready to shred!) and get out there - hit the slopes already!!

See?! Its super easy (and not expensive) to look fresh. You just need a little help from FreshPow!

A FreshPow! FreshFace is a great way to give your board (or skis) a brand new look without the high expense. Many times we’ve heard that our customers enjoy their boards (or skis) but would like to bring the style into this century. A FreshFace is the way to go! Our FreshFaces are temporary (you can update them as often as you wish), but they also last - for as long as 2 seasons*

*Our FreshFaces are designed and manufactured to be applied to the surface of a board or skis. Staying power depends on your style of riding. Please know that our FreshFaces have been tested against and can hold up to freezing temperatures, heat and humidity, water and ice and pollution and UV lights. The nature of winter sports subjects FreshFaces to a variety of hazards such as nicks, cuts and tears, with care your FreshFace should last up to 2 seasons. Slight nicks around board and ski edges are to be expected. If you follow application instructions (included in your order) and the adhesive fails or you are simply not happy, please contact us.

We are so excited! Today is the official launch of FreshPow! There are some updates to let you in on so let us get started.

We have a ton of new designs for you (more coming too!) Designs for snowboards, skateboards and even stickers!

A couple of different options to check out (and these are just for starters) are the nature series, which is a collection of natural textures; rust, asphalt, bricks, even wood. Our geometric series is as the title suggests, a cool mix of shapes and colors.

Our newest addition to the FreshPow! team is Wes. Wes has an extensive background in boarding and in design as well. Check out the feature gallery because his work is great! Welcome to FreshPow! Wes, we’re happy you’ve joined us!

Because FreshPow! is all about fun and games, we’ve devised a few interesting and interactive contests for you to take part in.
