A normal curb, like 5 inches off the ground, and I rolled and broke my ankle. So dumb, but something I’ll definitely never forget.

My long lost days of cross country running back in high school, taught me to always “stretch it out” before and after a run. Since then, I’ve not continued running but have always tried to keep stretching before and after mountain biking and snowboarding. Recently we’ve had a chance to review a great video sent to us from Peggy Hall called Yoga for Board Sports
We found this video easy to watch and follow. It is accessible for someone like me who has never done yoga - but always thought “ya, maybe I’ll give it a shot sometime”. This video has inspired me to start following this before and after ride routine (or parts of it at least).
What I like is that this is yoga designed to be exclusive for board sports and the stretches are tailored to mimic those you would actually be doing while in action. The segments are demonstrated to help you see how the move(position) would come to life while participating in any board sport.
It was helpful to see male and female demonstrations, so you are getting to see varied adaptations of the description. There are also visuals of surfing and snowboarding(which I especially liked) in between the demonstrations, which helped further the connection.
Peggy’s voice is calm, fluid, consistent, clear and informative with background music that is relaxing and not at all a distraction. She explains that yoga is not about executing the perfect pose, rather-becoming more aware and taking from the stretches what you need to improve your riding. Another important point being that you may think you’re not flexible enough to do it, but don’t be concerned-it’s about becoming more focused on your sport.
Yoga for Board Sports is a consistent way to keep yourself in shape when there is down time between trips to the hill, trails or water. I can also see the benefit of using this yoga to stay in shape and get back into a routine after an injury.
Yoga for Board Sports is a regular routine that keeps your muscles fluid for jumps, tricks and boarding; overall it’s awesome!

Hope you’re making the most of what we have left of winter. We’re hoping to get out spring riding soon-if it ever warms up around here!
In the meantime, I’ve been working inside on the computer and tuning out the fam with these cool new headphones that ifrogz sent us!
The ifrogz company offers the Ear Pollution line of customisable headphones. They have been awesome and offered us a chance to design and order a pair of Nerve Pipes for review!
The process for customising the Nerve Pipes online was very interactive and a lot of fun. There are 6 component pieces to customise with colour and artwork; the headband, sidepieces, hinges, speakers, ear cushions and outer speaker area.
Being a graphic designer, I was very impressed with all the potential colour and texture combinations that are possible. I’m also a terrible decision maker and I spent much time perfecting a headphone design; tweaking, adding, removing-then starting from scratch to get the perfect pair happening!
Once submitting my final order, the Nerve Pipes arrived here very quickly and I was impressed right away. The packaging was nice (and very easy to open!) and my headphones inside matched the high quality image on the website-to a T! They are very stylin’ (as you can see), fold up into a compact size and sound fantastic!
Here is an example of what we like to see; photographic evidence of FreshPow! sticker placement.
In this case-the top tube of a bike. We’re hoping to receive more pictures like this-whether it be on your bike, board or bumper. We’ve heard one of our stickers was even spotted at Mt Baker in Washington!
Please sign up for free stickers and we’ll mail them to you-wherever you are.
(*Also please note, we do not encourage defacing public or private property.)
